Required documents (tourism)

Length of stay up to 15, 30, or max. 90 days.
Please submit the following documents on A4-sized paper.
DO NOT STAPLE OR BIND DOCUMENTS!   

1) Valid passport (original and a copy of the page containing personal details):
Your passport must be valid until your departure from Japan and must have at least two unused blank visa pages.
NOTE: If you are a holder of a refugee travel document (Reiseausweis) issued by the German government, please contact us in advance!

2) Residence permit for Germany and "Zusatzblatt" (supplementary sheet), if applicable (a copy of both sides):
Your residence permit must be valid until your re-entry into Germany.

3) Visa application form:
Please fill in the form with as much information as possible.
Provide contact details (telephone number, email, etc.) in Germany, tick all boxes regarding criminal records, sign and date the form. For minors who are unable to sign, a parent may sign on their behalf and write "signed by mother" or
"signed by father“ in brackets.
NOTE: Applicants who are nationals of the Russian Federation or the Newly Independent States (NIS) need 2 application forms.  

4) Passport photo (taken within last 6 months):
A standard passport-size photograph is sufficient.  
NOTE: Applicants who are nationals of the Russian Federation or the Newly Independent States (NIS) need 2 passport photos.  

5) Flight schedule:
Confirmation of flight reservation OR a non-binding flight proposal (a printed screenshot of the planned flight connection).

6) Itinerary in Japan (

Please write down your detailed planned activities, locations and accommodations in Japan (booking is not required).

7) Financial documents:
Your recent bank statement (not older than 1 month, showing your full name, date, and final balance) and/or your latest salary certificate.   

If a guarantor in Germany is covering your expenses;
- Informal letter of sponsorship signed and dated.
- Proof of relationship between the applicant and the guarantor (e.g. marriage certificate, birth certificates, etc.)
- Current bank statement of the guarantor (full name, date, and final balance)      

8) For family applications (if applicable):
Submit a copy of the marriage certificate, birth certificate, etc.
If the documents are in a foreign language, a certified translation into German or English is required.



Please note that applicants may be requested to provide any other documents, if necessary.
